Awake at last: "Village Idiot, are you suggesting that you go weeks at a time between showers too?"
I was wondering how long it would take for someone to figure that out.
i don't know why, but i put off getting a haircut way longer than i should.. i might go as long as 5 or 6 months between haircuts.. i desperately need a haircut.. what do you desperately need, but you've been putting it off?.
(disclaimer: minimus is going to be jealous.
this sort of question is his tradmark :).

Same as you - a haircut. I just got one yesterday after a couple months from the last one. Also, I don't shave for weeks at a time. I wait until I shower to shave.
family worship night is a boring, depressing, stifling, watchtarded indoctrination/brainwashing session.
it never ends.
like all things wt, there is no end in sight.
If you want to dissolve all of the "Watchtarded" logic you should progress to Bibletarded logic:
1) Open up the Bible to Exodus 20 where the Ten Commandments are written. Then go to Exodus 34 where a second set of ten commandments, claiming to be like the original ones but give out a very different set of commands such as my favorite one: Commandment 10: “Do not cook a young goat in its mother’s milk.” - Exodus 34:26
2) Quote Deuteronomy 25:11-12 and ask your family about their opinions on that verse.
3) Read where Jesus curses entire towns for not being impressed by his miracles but later asks God to forgive his murderers. Matthew 11:20-24 compared to Luke23:34. Make a snide remark about it.
Let the cognitive dissonance set in.
right now, i feel like my mind is at war with itself.. on the one side is reason, logic.. on the other is tradition, hope and fear.. reason and logic are challenging life-long beliefs.
they are telling me, "is this any more believable than the story of the lord of the rings?".
certain doctrines of my belief system are crumbling.. my mind still wants to hold on to the belief in a creator, his son jesus and the bible.
the jws since 1945 have taught that one should commit suicide and sacrifice oneself to god rather the take blood.
then in 2006 in an awake they said one could take hemoglobin even cow hemoglobin.
since hemoglobin makes up 96% of what a red blood cell is and 45% of the total volume of blood and is the key component of what makes blood work, how does one explain that this is obviously hypocrisy and do it in a way as to not get dfd?
First and foremost, you cannot question anything against the Watchtower without getting either disfellowshipped or marked.
What I suggest you do is to get a copy of their old anti-blood booklet, Blood, Medicine and the Law of God, where they had the original teaching and use it against them with the simple statement that they were consistent back then. I know you'll get the usual "old light" response but you might have better luck if you have them read it and cause some dissonance in their perception of the doctrine. Don't know if that might actually work but it's worth a try.
what is the mail screening process at headquarters like?
wouldn't it be great if the watchtower received a few hundred packets of sticky, messy glitter that clings to everything over the course of a week?.
this website is amusing to say the least.. http://shipyourenemiesglitter.com/.
wow, what a surprise that was!.
i expected a warm welcome, as this was someone i have known for a very long time.. nope, uber disfellowshipped jw.
totally caught me off guard.
I've known three long-time inactive or disfellowshipped Witnesses that were complete believers. They leave for reasons having nothing to do with doctrine or organizational behavior and will let you know that it is still "The Truth".
Not everyone has an intellectual curiosity like we do.

scientists seek religious experience -- in the brain.

Yes, it would be the brain cells' chemistry. The mind is what the brain does.
Another neurologist of great standing is Vilayanur Ramachandran. A comical excerpt from one of his videos:

Like your reference to Philip Dick's book.
in audacity of hope he writes: i will stand with the muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.
the quote comes from page 261 of the paperback edition of the audacity of hope.. he couildn't march in solidarity.
yesterday the "political winds shift" happened.
Shanagirl:
"Village Idiot - You are quoting from a website dedicated to labeling Allen West as Right Wing."
That website provides links and audio recordings so you can go straight to the horses mouth.
By the way your labeling me as an 'Obamappologist' shows that you make assumptions and broad generalizations just like the Watchtower does to apostates and you have towards me.
